Why a help message helps
In uncomfortable situations, children often find it hard to call and explain what's going on. A prepared message sent with one tap lowers the barrier: the child doesn't have to put anything into words and can still be sure that someone knows.
A family emergency plan
Explain emergency numbers
112 for fire and medical emergencies, 110 for the police (in Germany; 112 works across the EU – otherwise use your local emergency number). Practice what to say on the phone.
Agree on a code word
A word your child can use on the phone to say discreetly: Come get me.
No questions right away
Promise to pick your child up first and talk calmly later.
Important contacts
Save parents, grandparents and neighbors as favorites.
Keep an eye on the battery
A dead phone helps no one. A power bank can be useful.
The limits of any app
Kydly does not replace an emergency call and does not guarantee immediate delivery or rescue. Delivery and location depend on the connection, permissions and iOS. In acute danger, always contact your local emergency services.
The iPhone also offers its own system Emergency SOS feature, which calls emergency services directly. Show your child how it works.
How the help message works in Kydly
- Prepared messages such as “I need help”, “Please call me immediately” or “Please pick me up”
- The available location is sent along
- The message appears in the parent overview
- Part of the free basic features
Frequently asked questions
Does Kydly's SOS feature replace emergency services?
No. In acute danger, always dial 112 or 110 (in Germany; otherwise your local emergency number). Kydly informs the family but does not guarantee delivery or rescue.
Is the SOS feature free?
Yes. SOS help messages are part of the free basic features.
What happens if the child has no signal?
Without a connection, the message can't be delivered immediately. That's why an emergency plan with agreements is important.
